Pro-audio distributor and systems integrator PT Gracia Auvindo has been making Symetrix digital signal processing technology a core part of its technical arsenal since it first started working with the brand in 2008. Now, in one of its most ambitious projects to date, the company has implemented multiple Symetrix SymNet Solus open architecture and Jupiter fixed architecture DSPs at the Stones hotel and convention centre in the southern Balinese district of Kuta.
Hendra Halim, technical manager with PT Gracia Auvindo, observes that Symetrix equipment of one kind or another continues to make its way into many of the company’s fixed installation projects. “First of all, Symetrix DSPs are easy to use and understand,” he says. “Secondly, they offer very good quality at excellent price points. The result is that they naturally lend themselves to a wide variety of project types.” It was therefore a “very quick decision” to implement Symetrix DSPs during a recent contract at the Stones hotel complex. PT Gracia Auvindo was required to provide high quality audio for speech and background music in three primary spaces: the restaurant/pool area, convention centre and meeting rooms. In each case, the company opted for a powerful yet discreet and cost-efficient specification pairing Symetrix processors with Coda Audio loudspeakers and CAMCO amplifiers.
In the restaurant/pool area, a single Solus 8 (8in, 8out) device provides all necessary DSP for four separate areas: restaurant, deli, outdoor deck and swimming pool. The Solus 8 - used in conjunction with a single ARC-2e wall panel - guarantees ease of (re)configuration for a set-up that includes Coda Audio PW12 speakers, Camco Q-Power amplifiers and a Midas VENICE F16 console, among other equipment.
In the convention centre, three Jupiter app-based DSPs in an 8in, 8out configuration provide DSP for a trio of separate spaces. A Jupiter with 4ins and 4outs is also part of a design that allows the venue operators to operate the convention rooms separately or combine them into one large space - in which case a further Solus (8in, 8out) comes into its own for room combining functionality.
Five Jupiter DSPs with 12ins and 4outs have also been incorporated into the convention centre design, with audio reinforcement again courtesy of a Coda Audio and CAMCO inventory that includes no fewer than 50 Coda D5 passive speakers.
Finally, six individual meeting rooms are handled with a Jupiter 8 in each space, whilst yet another Solus 8 serves as the room combining system. PT Gracia Auvindo has also furnished the venue with ARC-2e wall panels for readily accessible control.
Reflecting on the project - which was completed to the client’s satisfaction in the second half of last year - Halim says that, once again, the Symetrix DSPs have proven their worth. Solus, he notes, is “a really flexible and easy to use piece of kit. Then with the Jupiter you have the chance to use downloadable apps for so many different applications such as mixing, automixing, routing and loudspeaker management. It’s very versatile.”
Nearly seven years after PT Gracia Auvindo first started working with Symetrix, Halim also offers warm words for the company’s support infrastructure. “Both from Hock Thang in the region and Ryan Curtright in the US, we continue to receive terrific support whenever it’s needed,” he concludes.
